Red and Blue Chair Gerrit Rietveld reproduction
Red and Blue Chair by Gerrit Rietveld, reproduction
name: Red and Blue Chair
designer: Gerrit Rietveld
design year: 1917-1923
This is more a sculpture pretending to be an armchair than a comfortable sculptural chair.
The great man had publicized his drawings and plans in magazines and books and every handymen in the Netherlands has set to. Maker unknown. The original is in the Centraal Museum Utrecht or the Schroeder house. This chair has nothing to do with the good man except that it is made and colored according to his instructions. Reproduction, fake, imitation, your choice.
This armchair dates from the late 1980s or early 1990s, and has signs of wear, scuffs and nicks as well as patina. Unfortunately our unknown carpenter’s studio floor was not level and the chair leans to the left, visible on the photos of the front and back. Otherwise this Dutch Design Classic is in great vintage condition.
