name: model 3108 Chair, now known as the Lily chair,
designer: Arne Jacobsen,
manufacturer: Fritz Hansen, Denmark,
design year: 1968,
fabrication year: 1970,

Arne Jacobsen first created the sleek, curvaceous Lily™ chair for Danmarks Nationalbank. Its characteristic wide shoulders and slim waist are striking examples of Jacobsen exploring and challenging the possibilities of veneer to create perfect curves and offer ultimate comfort.  … The first model was 3108 from 1968, and the chair was introduced to the market with arms, model 3208, at the Danish Furniture Fair in 1970. The chair is made from laminated sliced veneer and is the result of an extremely complicated moulding process that ensures the perfect curves and the best comfort. The 3208 from 2007 is slightly larger than the original.” -text: Fritz Hansen;
