Hubert Estourgie Stained Glass Publishing blue man

Sold

Hubert Estourgie Stained Glass panel with Publishing/Typesetter blue man central.

made for the publishing House’s 75th anniversary, paid for by the employees;

Hubert Estourgie is an important Dutch artist with his own wikipedia page, he painted, drew and did stained and enamelled leaded glass art including several large churches;

I’ve photographed it lit up two different ways to help you better gauge the actual colours;

built into it’s own light-box with fluorescent lamps, open back;

this box has had a fall, there is visible damage to the box, the plexiglass panel is missing as is the fluorescent fixture; however the box did exactly what is should, i.e. protect the stained-glass panel: there are only three broken pieces of glass that I’ve seen: the blue coat panel of the central figure, the edge of the table he’s working on and the small panel with the artists signature at the bottom, see the photos;

the imagery in the window all pertains to publishing: typesetting, book printing, letter press, media, company;

vintage, retro, mid-century modern, 50s, 1950s, fifties,
