“Chair with a solid round-steel frame and a seat and back of curved birch plywood. Wood and metal are connected with rubber discs, whereby the backrest was not marred by screw heads. Additionally the rubber provided suspension and comfort. However, the chair was also supplied upholstered on request. The cover was removable and available in three colours; red, yellow and grey.

The chair was designed for the series: “furniture for the simple interior”. Under the name 216 the chair was manufactured with armrests. The chairs 116 and 216 were a big success. In 1959 the chair (with out armrests) was renamed 1245″  — text Stichting Gispen Collectie, translation NLD
