De Ster Gelderland Spindle Back dining chair in solid Oak.

“Spijlen Stoel” in Dutch;

all solid oak;

carved shaped seat;

splayed legs;

outermost spindles pierce the rounded top rail;

rustic and brutalistic;

Scandinavian Modern inspired Dutch Design;

We thought we acquired a matching set of four but if you study the picture of the four chairs lined up you see subtle variations between the left two and the right two. The main difference is the shoulder of the outermost spindle just below where it pierces the top rail, also the left pair has slightly more splayed legs. As these chairs were in production for twenty plus years it is not surprising that production variations occurred. On the rightmost chair there is a manufacturing defect where the leg pierces the seat.
